Dr. Ramona Pittman
AMF held a one-day conference to celebrate their 15th anniversary on 31st March 2023. We had 6 National and 3 international speakers. Topics covered were – Cognitive literacy intervention, Decoding spelling, and Intervention techniques to help students with dyscalculia. There was a session comparing the assessment tools being currently used in India, The session highlighted the benefits and limitations of each assessment battery.
Dr. Ramona Pitman is a walking – talking dictionary for reading in the context SLD. She holds a PhD in curriculum and instruction as well as a master’s degree in education/degree master’s in elementary education. She has been instrumental in the development of reading curriculum, leadership programmes, and courses, as well as reading research. She is a teacher, and she uses her expertise in every aspect of reading that we can think of.
She taught the audience about linguistic diversity and its impact on spelling knowledge. She also shared information about various dialects and their impact on spellings.
